Armthorpe Welfare

Armthorpe play in the Northern Counties East League, currently in the Premier Division. The Welfare Ground is a reasonably tidy little ground with a decent view available from most parts. The seating area though, is possibly one of the most uncomfortable in the World and suffers from facing the sun on clear days. So, take a cushion and some sunglasses if you want to sit.

Refreshments are available at the back of the stand; there is a pub outside the ground (The Plough Inn) although this was closed on my last visit (actually it was burnt down). Best bet would be the Wheatsheaf Hotel if you want an alcoholic drink.

Souvenirs are being made available, a lapel badge can be purchased (although ask for a member of the committee if you want to buy one).

Armthorpe Welfare Programme

What can be said about this programme? Being honest if it wasn't by force of habit I wouldn't bother, it simply is a waste of money. The cover is the same as it has been for the best part of a decade (update: an advert has been added to the cover for season 2003/04), and the content is 95% adverts. The price is £1.00, which covers the cost of a badly photocopied folded sheet amongst a pre-stapled compilation of advertisements. Add the handwritten cover and then ask "How do they get away with it?"
